Cake With Surprises

Of course we went to have out traditional cutting of the cake moments!! M knew better than to shove anything into my face, so it was a fairly relaxed experience. Although, there is video of it and you can here everyone yelling things at us the whole time (I really don't remember that), I will get the video put together at some point to share as well!! I did have a surprise Grooms cake . . . a guitar. It was yellow cake with basically no frosting (M's favorite) . . . oh . . . our cake was white cake with raspberry cream filling and white chocolate butter cream frosting, seriously delicious!I love all the cute little faces you can see in the background . . . they want their cake!! The the guitar cake!
Isn't it cute???

Then . . . we had some surprises . . . and I swear to god neither of us knew what the other one was doing!!

Yes, those are instrument cases!
M bought me a banjo.
And I bought him a guitar. See, we really were meant to be together! I gave a little speech . . . that someone got on film, so I will put it up soon.
And M played a little guitar.
Everyone wanted me to play, but it wasn't tuned correctly, so I couldn't make it sound right. And I am not a good enough musician to tune it on the spot. Oh well. Love this pic!
Anyway . . . so funny that we both bought each other instruments. Too bad I have been really bad about playing mine. Just so you know, the guitar I bought M is a Breedlove . . . an amazing guitar company out of Oregon. I had to buy M a Oregon guitar from his Oregon girl!!

Songs of Love

One of my Dad's best friends sent us "A Medley of Songs For Cat & Marshall" where he changed the lyrics to some songs you may know. Or in his words "Lyrics mangled by John B."

"The first song is sung to the tune of 'The Theme From The Davy Crockett TV Show' (Ask your parents) Ready - here goes:

I know a Gal. Her name is Cat-xx J.
She and Marshall set their wedding day.
Friends and fam'ly will shout, 'Hip, Hooray?'
'Cause they'll all be happy in every way!
Cat-xx, Cat-xx Jxx
Soon to be G-xxxxxxxx."
(I guess I will have to tell you my first and maiden name are two syllables, and my new last name is 4!)

"The next tune is stolen from 'California Here I Come" and here we go:
G-xxxxxxxx - That's his name.
Cat-xx's will be the same.
She's partial to Marshall. You know it's true.
He's battlin' for Cat-xx. Wants to hear her say, 'I do!'
Draw a circle 'round 8/8.
That's their happy wedding date.
Grab the parson. Don't be late!
The G-xxxxxxxx - Here they Come!"
(I am starting to realize this isn't as much fun for you if you don't know our names - oh well)

"Now for the big finale! Sung to the tune of 'Love And Marriage' (aka. The theme from the 'Married With Children' TV Show). Let's bring it on home:

Cat and Marshall. Cat and Marshall.
Go together just like post and parcel.
This I told her brother -
I can't see one without the other!
Try, try, try to get to Portland per invitation.
Try, try, try and you'll be sure to share in their elation!
Marshall and Cat. Marshall and Cat.
Go together like a cane and top hat.
This I told her mother -
I can't see one . . . I said I can't see one . . .
No, no, I can't see one without the o-o-other!"
(Hopefully you guys recognize this tune! Plus, not strange X's getting in the way!)

Well, I think it is fun!!

Making Soap

I am sure we all saw this post at one time or another . . . such a wonderful idea is worth doing over and over again! So, I (with the help of M) made soap for my Bridal Shower . . . and people loved it! I will be making more for gifts in the future!

Here is a tiny little pic of the stack of them at the shower. Everyone loved them!! I ended up making 5 different "flavors," Chai Tea, Lemon Poppyseed, Apricot Mint, Pomegranate with Vanilla Bean, and Lavender Mint. It was just such a fun little surprise for everyone.

I'm Back

I am back from my honeymoon, but I figured I might be really busy, so I scheduled this one too. Hopefully I will be back to my regular blogging soon!

In the meantime . . . I thought I would share another set of gifts!! These I made from my Mom and Dad and my future in-laws plus M. I took pictures of the whole process so you could see how it was done.
First I printed out a letter I liked the look of on the computer, and then put it under the fabric so that I could trace it.
I traced it with a water soluble pen and put it is a tiny little hoop!!
Then I stitched. I used a chain stitch.
Finished G. This one is for M!!
I did the same process for Terry, M's Dad.
My Dad of course got Dad!!!
I did the same things with the Mother's hankies . . .
But I used pencil this time because the water soluble pen left too wide a mark that wouldn't work to stitch over.
The final boy hankies!
And the Mom's hankies.

I think this is such a sweet sentiment. It actually almost made M cry when I showed him what his Mom's said!!
And my Mommas!!!

Sweet huh?? I think I am going to wait to give them these on the day of the wedding. So I am wondering if I need to have something for them to open at the rehearsal?? I guess it is too late to get advice from you guys!! I guess I will see what I come up with!!
